What’s Going On In The World

1. New ‘Purge’ Film in the Works from Franchise Creator James DeMonaco: After the longest gap in releases since the franchises’ start, we now have confirmation that James DeMonaco is returning to write another movie (after writing all the previous Purge movies as well).

2. ‘Heart Eyes’ & ‘Barbarian’ Producers Teaming On New ‘Amityville’ Movie; ‘Deadstream’s Joseph And Vanessa Winter To Direct: If I had a nickel for every new movie I’ve reported on this month that was being written/directed by an established husband/wife horror team that previously worked on a V/H/S/99 segment I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

3. Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Star in Robert Eggers’ ‘Werwulf,’ Lily-Rose Depp in Talks for ‘Nosferatu’ Reunion: Aaron Taylor-Johnson is staying in the horror world after his recent role in 28 Years Later, now joining Eggers for his 2026 feature about, you’ll never believe this, a werewolf (werewolves?).

4. BLACK SWAN Dances Into IMAX Theaters For 15th Anniversary: Black Swan is returning to IMAX theaters in August and tickets are already on sale so if you want to grab a ticket, move fast!
